Our Agency was founded by Kenneth A. Murray in 1939 after working for the previous owner Hosea Ross Insurance, Real Estate and Undertaking. In 1948 the Real Estate branch was discontinued giving full focus to insurance.
Our philosophy has been to provide the best services possible to our clients with an emphasis on service and integrity. We pride ourselves on building long-term relationships with our clients.
Our primary goal is to serve our clients and grow with the community on long-term basis by offering quality service with integrity in a congenial atmosphere.

Jill was born in Seattle, Washington and moved to Fairbanks in 1978. She has been an all lines licensed agent since 1988. Her hobbies include gardening, cooking and enjoying the long days of summer.

Mariann De Heus, HR & Finance Manager
Mariann was born in Texas but moved to Alaska as a small child in 1968. She has two children and 5 wonderful grandchildren. Her hobbies include fishing, reading and working in her garden. She has an extensive background in bookkeeping, administration and management. She has been employeed with Kenneth A. Murray since May 2006.

Gordon Depue, Life and Health Consultant
Gordon has been an all lines licensed agent here in Fairbanks for over 30 years and also has over 50 years experience in Life and Health Insurance. The author of a number of insurance related articles in national and local publications, Gordon is also a past president of the Alaska Independent Agents Association. In 2004 he and his wife, Ardella, sold their agency here in Fairbanks to retire and travel. They have raised a family in Fairbanks and plan to remain here. The illness of his wife prevents travel, so he currently works as a consultant at the Kenneth A. Murray Agency. Ken is a long time friend and insurance associate.

Ruth comes to us from the small town of Ordway, Colorado. She moved to Fairbanks in 2004 with her husband and three children. She has been an insurance agent since 2005 and rejoins the staff at Ken Murray after taking some time off to finish her associates degree. In 2009 she was named the Outstanding Customer Service Represtative of the year for the State of Alaska by the National Alliance of Insurance. She enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

| Jake Hoover, Life & Health Agent
Jake has lived in Fairbanks since 2003. He moved here for a job in insurance and investments. Jake is the proud father of one and husband to Sarah Hoover. When not working (or changing diapers), Jake loves to go fishing, play golf and play softball. After a two year hiatus from selling life and health insurance he is ready to go full forward ahead!

Shirley has been a performer in Fairbanks since first arriving here in 1975. She likes to bead and pick berries. She came late to insurance having taken a job as a receptionist at an agency 6 years ago. She quickly received her license and has been a policy processor since. She has been employed at Kenneth A. Murray since September 2007.

Kristina was born in Anchorage and immediately flown up to Fairbanks where she was raised right here in the Golden Heart city. She entered into the insurance field in 2004 and has enjoyed being part of the Kenneth A. Murray insurance team since 2005. In 2011 she was named the Outstanding Customer Service Represenative of the year for the State of Alaska by the National Alliance of Insurance.

Kenneth H. Murray, CEO
Ken was the only one of two sons interested in the family business. He jumped in and out of the business for awhile but finally decided to settle down and join the firm in 1967. He worked with his father for 30 years before Murray Senior passed away in 1997 at the age of 91. Ken is active in ice hockey.

Micheline Patterson, Personal Lines Manager
Micheline was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. She later moved to Denver, Colorado in 1994 and soon moved with a friend to Fairbanks in 1998. She started her insurance career in 2000. She is a working mother of 3 little insurance risks and wife of Kama Patterson. When she is not working you can usually find her in her yard attending her champion giant cabbage!

Paula moved to Fairbanks with her son in 1980 and has lived in Anchorage and Adak--but prefers Fairbanks. She lives in Fairbanks with her husband Tom and her dogs, Trixy and Ralph. They have 4 grown children and 5 grandchildren. Her hobbies include gardening and reading. She has been in commercial insurance since 2006 and has just rejoined the Ken Murray Insurance family after a 3 year absence.

| Kathy Simmons, CISR, Commercial Lines Agent
Kathy comes from a long line of insurance professionals; it's in her blood. Her Grandfather owned and operated an independent insurance agency; her father retired as an insurance executive; her mother retired from commercial lines insurance and her sister presently works in insurance claims. Kathy pursued her lifelong passion of classical ballet for several years before joining her family's insurance profession. She has worked in both captive and independent agencies in other states prior to joining Ken Murray Insurance Agency. She is happy to be a member of the commercial lines department and looks forward to helping you.
